Crescent Dragonwagon is happy to announce the next new reissue of another one of Charlotte Zolotow’s books, IN MY GARDEN…
Originally published in 1960 with illustrations by Roger Duvoisin, IN MY GARDEN will have a new life in 2019. That is when with Neal Porter Books, an imprint of Holiday House, plans to republish. The rights sale was handled by Zolotow’s agent, Edite Kroll.
The illustrator of the new edition will be author-artist Phillip C. Stead. Stead is the author of the Caldecott Medal-winning book A SICK DAY FOR AMOS MCGEE. His illustrative work was described by the New York Times as “… splashy, colorful pictures (that) are warm, funny, appealing, drawn with a light touch.”
Dragonwagon, Zolotow’s daughter and literary executor, agrees, saying, “I can’t wait to see what he’ll do with IN MY GARDEN. I think Stead’s style, so tender and gentle, is a great fit with Charlotte’s text.”
Stead told Publishers Weekly that he had been a fan of Charlotte Zolotow’s writing since he was nine.
